CrossFit? What's that?

What is CrossFit?

A cross- trainer has nothing to do with CrossFit.

So what is CrossFit? CrossFit is a constantly varied, high-intensity functional training. The CrossFit training program contains elements from Olympic lifting (weightlifting), powerlifting, kettlebell sport, gymnastics and endurance training.

CrossFit training consists of functional movements, in which as many muscle groups as possible are involved, such as lifting, throwing, pulling, climbing, running, and jumping.

At CrossFit Ninjas in The Hague you train in a group under the guidance of one or more expert coaches. CrossFit movements

Before you can participate in a CrossFit workout, it is important that you learn to move well and master the various basic movements. During the CrossFit introduction course you will learn the 9 basic movements of CrossFit and you will receive an explanation of common exercises and techniques. The most important basic movements of CrossFit are:

  • squats: air squat, front squat en overhead squat
  • presses: shoulder press, push press en push jerk
  • lifts: deadlift, sumo deadlift high pull en de medicine ball clean

How does CrossFit Training at CrossFit Ninjas in The Hague work?

Each training consists of a warm up (mobilization/activation), going through the technique of the various exercises and then starting with the WOD (workout of the day).

The training is different every day to keep surprising your body for maximum results. You learn new movements, become stronger, faster, and more flexible, and train in all 10 aspects of fitness:

  1. Cardiovascular power: collecting, processing and delivering oxygen to muscles.
  2. Stamina: the ability of the body to provide energy for a long time.
  3. Power: develop strength.
  4. Flexibility: maximizing range of motion.
  5. Power: application of maximum force in minimum time.
  6. Speed: perform a movement in the shortest possible time.
  7. Coordination: combination of different movement patterns into one movement.
  8. Agility: speed at which one movement can be changed to another.
  9. Balance: control of the body's center of gravity.
  10. Accuracy: control of a movement in one direction or intensity.

A CrossFit workout can be adapted to to anyone's fitness. This allows everyone to train together: beginners, advanced, young, old, man, woman.

Ultimately, the training is the same for everyone and everyone trains within his or her capabilities. Do you ever have trouble with the training? Then your fellow athletes encourage you and drag you through the last exercises.
